Organic skincare 'essential for those shopping for moisturiser'

People looking for an unscented moisturiser should make sure they choose organic skincare products, a green beauty expert has advised.

Adria Vasil, Ecoholic columnist for Now Toronto, warned readers concerned about dryness against putting the contents of their local petrol station pump onto their skin.

She warns that many conventional lotions are filled with chemicals like mineral oils and petrolatum, which can suffocate the skin. Health problems that can be caused by using petrochemical-based ingredients include respiratory problems, premature ageing and headaches, with some of these also being highly toxic.

Among the other chemicals in these products can be diazolidinyl urea and parabens, she revealed, while synthetic fragrances can also contain hormone-disrupting components that users can find damaging.

Ms Vasil highlighted the wide range of organic skincare options available for those looking at moisturisers, saying there is something on the market for every need.

'So what should you be slathering on your skin? Well, depends how thirsty your epidermis is and what body part needs help,' she told the newspaper.ADNFCR-2885-ID-19559777-ADNFCR
