There was a tough, sharp edge to the minimalistic dos that have been so prevalent on the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and now Paris.
The styles combined a smooth finish on the crown with a feathery ponytail. This is a trend that Efi Davies, TONI&GUY international artistic director, recently predicted would be big in 2010, having seen the dual-textured finish at London Fashion Week.
Stylist Eugene Souleiman told Allure magazine that he misted the front and sides of the hair with a styling spray, which women can use natural hair styling products for if they prefer. Next, he created a diagonal side parting that curved around the head.
He then smoothed the top and sides of the hair and put it into a low ponytail, which he fluffed with a brush to make it airy and wispy. The style was then set in place with hairspray.
'This is a classic shape, but what makes it different is the contrast of the front being very shiny and chic and the ponytail being wild and raw,' he told the magazine.
