How to create the dressed down top-knot

How to create the dressed down top-knot
Off-duty top-knots are one of the top trends at the moment, as natural hair styling continues to be the fashion.

Celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth and Victoria Beckham have all been seen wearing the dressed down updo recently.

Company magazine's fashion director Oonagh Brennan has also recommended wearing the style if you're going to a festival, as it's a low maintenance but stylish look.

Elle magazine said that there are various ways of going for natural hair styling to create the off-duty top-knot. For example, it is a good look to go for with day old hair as it is more likely to stay in place.

Celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford told the magazine that another option is to 'pull your hair back into a tight ponytail with a snag-free hairband, then rough it up with a bit of back-brushing'.

You then need to twist the ponytail in one direction until the hair winds round on itself and tuck the ends into the main body of the bun.

Finally, secure it in place, but make sure it doesn't look too neat by loosening some sections to give the bun a 'tendrily effect', Mr Stafford recommended.
