Makeup brushes 'should be weighted'

Makeup brushes
Women should invest in good brushes for applying their natural makeup and these should be weighted, according to an expert.

Makeup artist Daniel Thompson told Canwest News Service that both the bottom handle and the head of the brush should weigh the same.

'Really cheap brushes are bottom-heavy because they have very few bristles in the actual brush part. So makeup will go on unevenly and look streaky,' he said.

On the other hand, top-heavy brushes that have too many bristles will pick up a large amount of makeup and leave it looking heavy and cakey on the skin, Mr Thompson told the news provider.

He added that every woman should have five tools for applying their natural makeup - a large powder brush, one for blush, two eye shadow brushes and one for applying lipstick or gloss.

Whatever brushes you choose, you need to make sure you are cleaning them regularly, preferably once a week.
