Non-chemical sun creams recommended by dermatologist

Non-chemical sun creams recommended by dermatologist
People should look for sunscreens from natural body care ranges that do not contain chemicals, according to an expert.

Top dermatologist Nicholas Perricone told Elle magazine that natural sun creams with physical blockers like titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide that sit on top of the skin instead of reacting with it are best.

'Though the formulations of chemical sunscreens are often lighter and easier to apply, they’re more likely to cause allergic reactions or irritation,' he explained, so people should be buying products from natural body care ranges.

Mr Perricone told the magazine that a tinted moisturiser or foundation with at least SPF 15 will provide light protection that is adequate for everyday activities.

For added benefits, they should look for products that contain anti-inflammatory antioxidants such as alpha lipoic acid which help protect skin from damage-causing free radicals, he said.

Lavera's Anti-Age Sun Cream SP15, which was recently recommended by Beauty is Easy, does not contain chemicals but offers protection against YVA, YVB and UVC rays.
