Natural body care: Healthy eating

Posted by Allison Paquette

Women looking to improve their natural body care routine should start with assessing what they eat, according to an expert.

Many women are overlooking the positive effects of eating the correct multivitamins and supplements and the simple benefits which come from enjoying a healthy balanced diet every day.

Dr Carrie Ruxton, independent nutrition advisor to the HSIS, said the quality of a woman's diet throughout her life is very important and the key to natural body care is healthy eating.

'Clearly, women following a healthy balanced diet should be able to get all of their essential nutrients from food sources,' she said.

'Women are not only influencing their own health but, during the childbearing years, potentially influencing the health of their children.'

In 2008, only 29 per cent of women reported meeting the five-a-day fruit and vegetable recommended daily intake, something which is recommended for improving natural body care.
